Her love affair with photography started when her husband gave her her camera almost two decades ago, back when they were living in Brunei. A drive to the beachto capture a glorious sunrise was an eye-opening moment…That was the moment ABI MIGUEL realized how beautiful the world truly is, through the lens of a camera. This was not just going to be a hobby but a lifelong passion. She began her career with her children often as her models. She is a self-taught photographer who had to do her own research as there were no photography schools in Brunei. Initially inspired by Virginia Felche and later on by Sue Bryce, she enrolled in various online courses. She is moved by classical painters like Degas,Rembrandt and Veneer, and her photos show this. In fact, clients often mistake her photos as paintings. Since then she has amassed a multitude of awards from various international award giving bodies such as the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI),Master Photographers Association of the United Kingdom (MPA) and WPEInternational Photography. In February 2021, she was recognized as one of the top100 photographers of WPE (out of 7,500 members). Then last May 2023, she received three more awards from WPE: Portrait Creative and Children.She built her studio in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam back in 2003 and was blessed tohave a strong and loyal client base.
