Kajima Philippines, Inc. operations began in 2002 and exclusively caters to fellow Japanese manufacturing plants in Philippine economic zones. The company used the same brand of plotter for many years, a brand which many in the industry have been using as well.
Slow and time-consuming: Kajima’s large projects often require over a hundred plans printed at a time. To meet deadlines, teams would sometimes stay in the office overnight just to finish all the printing needed.
Lack of definition: The large and intricate building plans’ lines and text weren’t as precise and as well-defined as the design team would like.
Frequent disrepair: The plotters would often break down and require on-site technical support, affecting project timelines and frustrating internal and external customers.
The Canon large format printers cost more outright, and the risk to trust a new vendor was potentially more damaging than to settle with the accepted output. However, after careful consideration over two years, the potential returns were deemed worth exploring.
As a general contractor, Kajima Philippines had numerous partners by way of their subcontractors. Several of them were already using Canon large format printers and the prints were notably more defined.
Finally, the promise of time savings won over Kajima Philippines. The current printers were burning a hole in the company’s pocket because they were repeatedly malfunctioning and waiting for repair, were generating unnecessary overtime hours due to the slow production and were ultimately affecting the tired employees’ quality of work and life.
Kajima Philippines procured a Canon imagePROGRAF large format printer and soon switched its entire plotter fleet to Canon.
The Canon large format printers have cut printing time massively. Employees no longer need to stay beyond regular operating hours just to finish printing requirements. This led to savings in man hours, operations, and improved work-life balance and productivity for the affected staff.
The prints no longer look smudged but are now sharp and accurate, improving legibility for its readers.
Beyond technical upgrades, Kajima enjoys nearly zero downtime now. Over the eight years they have been using the Canon plotters, they have needed to call for help a handful of times. The plotters have proven to be exceptional; they have already evaded Kajima’s strict 4-year machine upgrade policy twice and show little sign of wear.
Switching over to a different brand was painless thanks to the user-friendliness of the interface. The imagePROGRAF large format printers’ high quality prints, durability, and Canon’s reliable after-sales support has made Kajima a loyal patron.
