    Issue

    Scan quality is poor (Image displayed on the monitor).

    Cause and Solution

    Make sure the document cover is fully closed when scanning.
    External light causes partial overexposure, streak or colored pattern on the image.
    If the document cover does not close properly due to the document larger than the document glass, cover the document with a thick dark cloth to shut out any external light.
    Notes for placing items to be scanned
    Make sure that dust or dirt does not stick to the document glass.
    * Remove any dust from the document glass.
    Use a soft dry cloth or a blower brush to remove dust.

    The scanner needs recalibration.
    Calibrate your scanner.
    Executing Calibration
    1. Prepare your scanner according to the type of item to be scanned.
    For scanning paper/photo, put the protective sheet to the document cover.
    For scanning film, remove the protective sheet from the document cover and set the film guide.

    The scanner may not be recognized by the computer.
    Disconnect and reconnect the scanner.
    * If the scanner is connected via USB hub, connect the scanner to the computer directly without hub.
    * If your computer has multiple USB ports, connect the scanner to another port.

    Make sure that the lock switch is released.

    The scanner driver is not installed correctly.
    Uninstall and reinstall the driver and then reconnect the scanner.
