Corporate Social Responsibility - Canon Philippines

Corporate Social Responsibility

Canon has been very active in the area of nation-building over the past years.

Canon’s corporate philosophy is kyosei, which means ‘to live and work together for the common good’.

This is what Canon does every day with its corporate activities. We understand that our business is supported by the development of society as a whole. This is why, as a Good Corporate Citizen, Canon aims to contribute to the realization of a better society by engaging in sound and fair business activities. In addition, we realize that we have an increasingly important role to play in addressing complex social issues that include climate change, frequent natural disasters, poverty and inequality as expressed in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations.

Canon’s sales companies in Asia abide by the basic CSR statement of the Canon Group. In addition, we draw on Group resources such as advanced technological capabilities, global business deployment expertise, and diverse, specialized human resources to engage in activities tailored to characteristics and issues specific to the Asian countries and regions we operate in. Besides reinvesting business profits into local communities, we are also committed to addressing social issues, as we believe such activities are essential to sustainable development. Canon Asia’s social contribution activities are focused on education, community care, environment, and cultural improvement. In times of need, we provide humanitarian support to people facing harsh conditions and natural disasters. Under the umbrella message “Imaging for Good”, we aim to do our part in creating a better and sustainable society with fair chances for all, creating and capturing smiles wherever we go.

These programs are part and parcel of Canon’s aim to continuously uplift the community where it serves.

Our Programs

Happy Walk

Canon Marketing Philippines proudly joins hands with the Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, Inc. (DSAPI) for Happy Walk to commemorate World Down Syndrome Day in March.  This is our commitment to celebrate the aspirations and promote the well-being and achievements of people with Down Syndrome. We believe in fostering understanding, acceptance and opportunities that enable everyone, regardless of ability, to live their best lives. Together, we make strides towards a more understanding and compassionate society.

Print for Smiles

Canon started Print for Smiles to help Operation Smile generate funds for the free reconstructive surgeries they give to children with cleft lip and palate. Through Print for Smiles, customers can have their photos printed using Canon Large Format Printers for a very minimal cost. While the program helps support numerous operations, it also promotes the impeccable printing quality and service of Canon products.

Canon has long been an advocate for environmental consciousness and action. Its ongoing aim is to make high-performance products that consume less energy and implement programs to educate and encourage contributions to the earth’s sustainability. Among the number of these successful efforts are: the Bachang advocacy which aimed to restore the rice terraces of Banaue which was devastated by typhoons and landslides, consequently winning the Anvil Award of Excellence from the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP); the Sagip Agila project in partnership with the Philippine Eagle Foundation and Environmental Education program with the Miss Earth Foundation.
