Install the printer driver
This section describes how to install the printer driver on your Macintosh.
(The printer driver is software that is required to connect the printer to the Macintosh.)
CAUTION
- The following instructions are intended for Mac OS X (v10.4).
- Do not connect the printer to the Macintosh until the installation of the printer driver is finished.
- The printer may not operate correctly if it is connected to a computer via a USB hub.
- If other USB devices (excluding USB mouse devices and USB keyboards) are connected to the computer while performing these operations, the driver may not be installed correctly.
- Do not put your computer into the standby mode (or sleep mode) while the printer is connected to the computer's USB port. If you accidentally do so, awaken the computer from the standby mode without disconnecting the USB cable.
- Some of the images that appear on this page contain a specific camera model name, however the actual model name varies depending on the camera used.
1. Quit all running applications.
2. Load the [COMPACT PHOTO PRINTER Solution Disk] CD-ROM that came with your printer into the computer's CD-ROM drive.
3. Double-click the CD-ROM icon that appears on the desktop.
4. The following window will appear, so double-click on [CPSD Installer] to start it.
5. The following screen appears.
6. When the following screen appears, click on the area in which you live.
7. The following screen will appear.
Select the country where you live.
Click [Next].
8. The following screen will appear. Click [Install].
9. The following screen will appear.
Select [Easy Installation].
Click [Next].
10. The following screen will appear. Read the content carefully, and then click [Agree].
11. The following screen will appear. Click [Next].
12. If the following screen appears, enter the name and password set for your Macintosh.
Enter your [Name] and [Password].
Click [OK].
13. The following screen appears.
Select [Easy Install].
Click [Install].
14. If the following screen appears, click [Next].
15. The following screen appears, and installation starts.
16. The following screen appears. Click [Quit].
17. The following screen appears, and installation starts.
18. If the following screen appears, enter the name and password set for your Macintosh.
Enter your [Name] and [Password].
Click [OK].
19. The following screen appears. If you want to register later, select
[No, I will register later.], and then click
[Next].
20. The following screen appears. Click [OK].
21. The following screen appears. Click [Finish].
22. The following screen appears. Click [YES] to restart the Macintosh.
23. Install the [Ink Cassette] and [Paper Cassette] to the printer.

24. Connect the printer to the computer with a commercially available USB cable.

After connecting, turn on the printer.
25. The software will start and the following screen will appear when a connection between the printer and the computer is established.
If the [Card size paper is loaded.] (If Card Size is selected) message appears in the [Printer] box, and [OK] in the [Printer connection] box, the printer and the computer are properly connected, and the printer is ready for printing.
NOTE
- Perform Steps 23 to 24 to automatically start [SELPHY Photo Print] the next time you use it.
- If the software does not start automatically, select from the Dock (the bar that appears at the bottom of the screen) [SELPHY Photo Print] and click the icon.
When [Connect the printer.] appears on the screen
On the screen in Step 25, if the [Connect the printer.] message appears in the [Printer connection] box, follow the steps below to register the printer.
26. From
[Apple] (
) menu, select
[System Prefernces].
27. The following screen appears. Click [Print & Fax].
28. The following screen appears. Click [+].
29. The following screen appears.
Select [CP780].
Click [Add].
30. The following screen appears.
Check whether the name of your printer is displayed.
Click the

) button to close the window.
