How to clean the fusing roller

    Solution

      When the fronts or backs of the printouts are stained with black dots, clean the fusing roller using the following procedure. Print quality deterioration can be prevented by cleaning the fusing roller. First, print out a cleaning page using A4 size paper as shown in the figure. The printer feeds this cleaning page from the multi-purpose tray, cleaning the fusing roller.
      IMPORTANT
      The cleaning page cannot be printed on any paper other than A4 size paper. Be sure to use A4 size paper.

      1. Open the multi-purpose tray.
      NOTE
      To open the multi-purpose tray, see "Opening and closing the multi-purpose tray" in Related Information at the end of this page.

      2. Load a sheet of A4 paper into the multi-purpose tray.

      3. Display the Printer Status Window.
      NOTE

      4. From the [Options] menu, select [Utility] -> [Cleaning].
      The cleaning page is printed.

      5. Load the cleaning page with the printed side facing down and the arrow mark going into the multi-purpose tray first.
      If other paper is already loaded in the multi-purpose tray, load the cleaning page before you click [] (resume).
      NOTE
      a. Cleaning takes approximately 3 minutes.
      b. The cleaning process cannot be canceled. Please wait until it is completed.
