Sending Images to a Smartphone (Wireless Connection)

    Solution

    Explains how to connect the camera directly to the device via Wi-Fi.
    The menu tabs and items displayed will differ depending on the shooting mode.
    IMPORTANT
    • When you want to prioritize the wireless connection, do not operate the power switch, Mode Dial, card slot / battery compartment cover, or other parts. Otherwise, the wireless connection may be terminated.
    • The camera cannot be connected to a smartphone when the Mode Dial is set to < >.
    • Depending on the transmission range and connection status, image display may be delayed, images may not be displayed smoothly, shutter release may be delayed, or other problems may occur.
    • Even if movies are displayed in the list, they cannot be saved to a smartphone.
    • If you send RAW images to a smartphone, the high ISO speed noise reduction effect of saved images on the smartphone may become smaller.
    • For the operating system versions supported by Camera Connect, refer to the Related information below.
    • Interface or functions of the camera and Camera Connect are subject to change for firmware update of the camera or application update of Camera Connect, Android, iOS, etc. In such a case, features of the camera or Camera Connect may differ from sample screens or operation instructions in this manual.

    Connecting with Easy Connection
    1. Install Camera Connect.
    For Android smartphones, find Camera Connect in Google Play and download and install the app.
    For an iPhone or iPad, find Camera Connect in the App Store and download and install the app.

    2. Press the camera's < MENU > button to display the menu.



    3. Under the [ ] tab, select [ Wi-Fi/NFC ], then press < >.



    4. Select [ Enable ], then press < >.



    5. When the screen below appears, press < >.



    6. Enter a nickname. (You can enter between 1 to 10 characters.)
    When registering for the first time, or when [ Clear Wi-Fi settings ] has been performed, a default nickname (the camera name) will be displayed.
    When you are finished, press the < MENU > button.

    7. Select [ OK ] on the confirmation dialog and press < > to return to the menu screen.



    8. Select [ Wi-Fi function ], then press < >.



    9. Select [ ] (Connect to smartphone) and press < >.



    10. Select [ Easy connection ] and press < >.
    Select [ OK ] and press < >.



    11. When the screen below is displayed on the camera, operate the smartphone and connect it to the camera.



    • Activate the smartphone’s Wi-Fi function, then select the SSID (network name)() displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor.
    • For the password, enter the encryption key() displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor.



    12. When the [Waiting to connect] screen is displayed on the camera, start Camera Connect on the smartphone.



    13. Select and touch the camera to connect to from [ Cameras ] on Camera Connect.



    14. When a connection is established, the screen will appear on the camera’s LCD monitor.
    • Select [ OK ] and press < >.

    15. Touch [ Images on camera ] in Camera Connect.



    16. Operate the smartphone to send images stored in the camera to the smartphone.
    When a list of images in the camera appears on the smartphone, tap [ Select ] on the upper right of screen.



    17. When the selection screen appears, choose the desired images ( ), then touch [ ] ( ). The selected images will be saved to the smartphone.
    To select all images at once, press the [ ] icon in the upper right of the screen.


    NOTE
    A screen to set a resize option may be displayed, so choose an option and press [ OK ].

    18. After the images have been sent, tap on [ ] on the upper right, then touch [ ] on the upper left of the screen to return to the menu.







    19. To terminate the Wi-Fi connection, touch on [ ] on the upper right, then tap [ YES ].

    The nickname can be changed later on the [General sett.] screen.



    Changing the entry areaPress the < > button to toggle between the top and bottom entry areas.
    Moving the cursorPress the < > < > keys to move the cursor.
    Entering textIn the bottom area, press the < > cross keys or turn the < > dial to select a character, then press < > to enter it.
    You can check how many characters you have entered, and how many more can be entered, by referring to [*/*] on the upper right of the screen.
    Deleting a characterPress the < > button to delete one character.
    Finishing the text entryPress the < MENU > button to confirm what you have entered and exit. If a confirmation dialog is displayed, select [OK] to exit.
    Canceling the text entryPress the < DISP > button to cancel text entry and exit. If a confirmation dialog is displayed, select [OK] to exit.

    Reference : Connecting with the NFC Function
    IMPORTANT
    • Smartphones labeled with the mark are NFC-enabled. Some smartphones are not labeled with the mark even if they are NFCenabled; if you do not know whether your smartphone is NFC-enabled, contact the manufacturer of the smartphone.
    • A connection may not be established with the NFC function even if the smartphone is NFC-enabled. In such a case, establish a connection using the procedure in "Connecting with Easy Connection".
    • Images cannot be sent using the NFC function while the camera is connected to another device wirelessly. In addition, the camera cannot be connected to multiple smartphones at the same time.

    1. Install Camera Connect on a smartphone.

    2. Under the [ ] tab, select [ Wi-Fi/NFC ] , then press < >.



    3. Add [ ] to [ Allow NFC connections ].
    • Displayed when [ Wi-Fi/NFC ] is set to [ Enable ].
    • Press the < DISP > button to add or remove [ ]. Add [ ], then press < >.



    4. Press the < > button to play back images.

    5. Touch a smartphone to the camera.
    • Touch the mark on the smartphone to that on the camera so that they come into contact with each other.
    It may take some time until the camera is recognized.
    • Camera Connect starts on the smartphone and establishes a connection.

    6. Select an image to send, then press < >.



    7. Select [ Send img shown ] and press < > to send the image displayed.



    8. On the smartphone’s Camera Connect screen, tap [ ].
    IMPORTANT
    • When touching the smartphone to the camera, be careful not to drop the camera or smartphone.
    • Do not touch the smartphone to the camera with too much force. Doing so can scratch the camera or smartphone.
    • Just holding the smartphone close to the mark may not establish a connection. Be sure to touch the mark with the smartphone so that they come into contact with each other.
    • Recognition may be difficult depending on the smartphone. Touch slowly while changing the position or rotating horizontally.
    • Another application on the smartphone may start depending on how you touch. Check the position of the mark, then touch again.
    • When touching the smartphone to the camera, do not leave anything between the camera and smartphone. In addition, when a case is attached to the camera or smartphone, communication may not be possible via NFC function.
