Sending Images to an Android Smartphone (Wireless Connection) (PowerShot SX740 HS)
Solution
- Before connecting to the camera, you must install the free dedicated Camera Connect app on the smartphone.
- Camera Connect can be installed from the Google Play. You can also access the Google Play from a QR code that you can display on the camera when registering the smartphone on the camera.
- Use the latest version of the smartphone OS.
- Activate Bluetooth* and Wi-Fi on the smartphone.
*Bluetooth low energy technology (hereafter referred to as "Bluetooth")
NOTE
- In the following explanation, smartphone setting procedures are indicated by the
icon, and camera setting procedures are indicated by the
icon. - Please refer to the related information for details on the smartphones which can be connected with a camera wirelessly.
1. Confirm the smartphone's settings.- Make sure that [Airplane mode] is not set.
- Turn [Wi-Fi] to [ON].
- Set the [Bluetooth] switch to [ON].
2. Download Camera Connect from the Google Play and install it on the smartphone.
3. Press the

When the [Nickname] screen appears, press the

- Nicknames are 1 – 8 characters and can be changed later. For more information on using the keyboard, please refer to "Using the On-Screen Keyboard".

NOTE

buttons to choose [Pairing], then press the

13. A message is displayed indicating that pairing is in progress.
14. Touch the [Camera Connect](
) application icon on the smartphone to start Camera Connect.
15. After the camera is recognized, a camera selection screen is displayed. - Touch the camera to connect.

16. Press the
/
buttons to choose [OK], press the
button.
17. Press the
button of this screen.- The Pairing between the camera and the smartphone should be complete, and connected.

IMPORTANT
- Battery life may be shorter when you use the camera after pairing, because power is consumed even when the camera is off.
- Before bringing the camera to places where the use of electronic devices is restricted, go to the [
1 ] menu, [Wireless communication settings], set [Bluetooth function] to [Disable], to avoid having the camera ready for Bluetooth communication even when it is off. - Bluetooth connection will be disconnected when the battery is taken out while connected via Bluetooth. The connection will be re-established once the battery is placed.
18. Choose [Images on camera] in Camera Connect. 
19. Use the smartphone to import images from the camera to the smartphone. - When the camera is connected to the smartphone, a list of the images on the camera will appear in Camera Connect. Tap [Select] appearing in the upper right of the screen.

20. After the screen refreshes, choose the desired images (
), and then touch [
] on the bottom of the screen (
). - To select all images at once, press the [
] icon in the upper right of the screen, and then touch [
] on the bottom to save them on your smartphone.

NOTE
- A screen to set [Image save size] may be displayed, so choose an option and press [OK].
21. After the images have been saved, touch [
] appearing in the upper right of the screen.
22. Touch [
] in the upper left of the screen to return to the menu screen. 
23. To end the connection, touch the [
] icon displayed in the upper right of the screen.
24. Touch [Yes].
NOTE
- To check the information of the smartphone connected via Bluetooth, go to [
1 ] tab > [Wireless communication settings] > [Bluetooth function] to [Check/clear connection info]. You can also choose [ Bluetooth address ] to check the camera’s Bluetooth address. - To pair with another smartphone, clear the connection of the previously connected device first.

- If the [Connection history] is set to [Hide], in the [
1 ] menu, [Wireless communication settings] > [Wi-Fi settings], the hisotry will not be displayed.

button.
7. The SSID (
) and password (
) will be displayed on the screen.
8. Turn Wi-Fi settings to ON in your smartphone, choose the SSID (
) from step 7.
9. Input password from step 7 (
) .
10. Once the connection between the camera and the smartphone has been confirmed, press the home button to return to the home screen.
11. Touch the [Camera Connect] (
) application icon on the smartphone to start Camera Connect.
12. After the camera is recognized, a camera selection screen is displayed. - Touch the camera to connect.

13. Press the

buttons to choose [OK] , press the
buttons.
14. The camera screen will show [Wi-Fi on] .
15. Choose [Images on camera] in Camera Connect.
16. Use the smartphone to import images from the camera to the smartphone. - Touch [Select] in the upper right of the screen.

17. After the screen refreshes, choose the desired images (
), and then touch [
] on the bottom of the screen (
). - To select all images at once, press the [
] icon in the upper right of the screen, and then touch [
] on the right to save them on your smartphone.

- A screen to set [Image save size] may be displayed, so choose an option and press [OK].
18. After the images have been saved, touch [
] appearing in the upper right of the screen.
19. Touch [
] in the upper left of the screen to return to the menu screen. 
20. To end the connection, touch the [
] icon displayed in the upper right of the screen.
21. Touch [Yes].
Use the on-screen keyboard to enter information. Note that the length and type of information you can enter varies depending on the function you are using.
